I am a born-and-raised Texan turned Pacific Northwesterner working as an independent visual producer and editor in the Yakima Valley of central Washington state. I previously led photo desks for small-market newspapers, the Yakima Herald-Republic and the Victoria Advocate, as photo editor and chief photographer and managed a staff photographer and interns producing multimedia stories.
I received my master’s degree in Journalism and have a Bachelor of Arts in Italian, both from the University of Texas at Austin. While in graduate school, I served as a teaching assistant for beginner and advanced photography classes teaching the fundamentals of photojournalism and providing mentorship to student photographers.
With a foundation in 35mm film photography and darkroom printing, I also enjoy analog/alternative photographic processes and mixed media art, such as collage and digital design.
I have a keen interest in anthropology and psychology with a passion for universal stories that document the human condition. I strongly believe that community-informed visual storytelling can foster connection among neighbors.
I am available for editorial and commercial work. Clients include: The New York Times, The Seattle Times, Cascade PBS, High Country News, Heritage University, Tieton Cider Works, MultiCare Health System, Earth Day Yakima and more.
